Top 5 Christmas Songs of 2015

It's Christmas time again. Time for celebration, good food and spending money we just don't have on presents that people will probably hate! But there's also some great Christmas music. There's the tracks we love to pull out every year, but there's also a great amount of Christmas songs that are released every year. Like last year's popular list, we look back at the best five releases of this year's Christmas season.

Now there didn't seem to be as many songs this year, there were some great ones and a few I'm bummed about omitting. Jessie J had a great song you should check out and LeAnn Rimes had a great Christmas album out this year.

But here are the five I loved most this year:

5 - All I Want For Christmas Is You - Samantha Jade and Nathaniel

A Mariah classic handed so beautifully by two of Australia's great young talents. Both Samantha Jade and Nathaniel delivered spectacular albums this year, so it was nice to see them team up for this fun track. Yeah, they haven't changed the track much, but their straight cover is so very fun, and cute. Vocally the pair are firing and this song really does just make you want to smile.

4 - Everyday is a Holiday - Katy Perry

Katy Perry has released a very fun Christmas song, though points are taken off for it essentially being an ad for H&M. But still, this is another Christmas track designed to make you smile. Produced by Duke Dumont, this is a catchy tune that sounds trademark Katy Perry. It's full bubblegum, candy cane realness, it's like an Elf vomited all over you and you can't help but feel the Christmas spirit!! This is a fun track I'll be playing every December.

3 - All I Want For Christmas - Macy Gray

Now this is a special song. After some time away from the spotlight, Macy Gray returns with an important Christmas song that you NEED to listen to. Her Christmas wish list are things to make society a better place, health care, gun control and love. She also manages to take a swipe at Donald Trump as well. It's a clever tune with Gray's very unique and brilliant voice. I wasn't expecting to love this as much as I do, it's a truly perfect song.

2 - River - Bec Lavelle (with James Blundell)

Bec Lavelle is a great Aussie talent that has never gotten the attention she truly deserved. She came to prominence as the voice of the music played on TV's "McLeod's Daughters" and has released some great music since then. Here she covers Joni Mitchell's classic, "River", a melancholic ballad that I've loved for a long time. With help from James Blundell on backings, Bec has released a truly stunning cover that makes my heart both break and soar, her vocals are sublime. Download this one from iTunes, and it will be on your play list every Christmas.

1 - 100 Degrees - Kylie and Dannii Minogue

Now I really could have put anything from Kylie's great Christmas album on this list, it was such a great album. But for me, I couldn't look past an Aussie inspired disco duet between the Minogue sisters - it really does sound like a gay man's Christmas wish come true. The production is flawless, the beat infectious and the chorus is designed to get stuck in your head. This isn't just a great Christmas song, it's a great song, period. Now excuse me while I go pour another glass of bubbly and blare this tune!

Merry Christmas for Internal Jukebox. Been a little flat out this month, but back next week with our best of 2015 lists!!!
