Album Review: Perspective - Lawson

Returning with their second album, lad band Lawson have upped the ante on debut, "Chapman Square", and delivered a more rounded album that is both infectious and accessible.

"Chapman Square" was a great debut album with some really solid singles, so the gents of Lawson had a tough job in topping the album. Well, they certainly succeeded. "Perspective" is a really great album that is very easy to listen to. It's slickly produced but still has a lot of personality and lead singer, Andy Brown, comes across as both talented and charismatic.

This four piece clearly works well together and their sound is certainly on point. First single, "Roads", has been out a while, released originally in May 2015, but it's great they included it in the album as the song beautifully showcases the gent's talents. The beat is great on the song and it has an anthem like quality, something common in a lot of these tunes.

Second single, "Money" is also anthemic and catchy, while third single, "Where My Love Goes" is a track I really adore, it's such a beautiful tune. The piano at the beginning is beautiful and Andy's soft tones hit straight in the heart - a really winning tune and possibly the best song on the album.

There's plenty more to like here, "We Are the Fire", has a great beat and love the clap track. The chorus is powerful and the vocals soar. "Rio" showcases Andy's beautiful falsetto and this fun song has great instrumentation. "Only Water" is another great showcase for the vocals, Andy sounding stunning. The piano is beautiful and the lyrics poetic. My other favourite on the album would have to be "Lion's Den", a passionate tune with some great sounding guitar. This unique song almost elicits the feelings of the best 80s hair metal bands.

"Perspective" is yet another great album from Lawson, an act that is proving to be fascinating to watch grow and flourish.
