Album Review: 24/7 - Fifth Harmony

It seems like only yesterday we were giving a great review to the first Fifth Harmony album, and here we are again singing the praises of the sensation that is Fifth Harmony.

The five ladies of Fifth Harmony have had a great year. The first album was amazing, and while my favourite from the album, "Sledgehammer" did okay, it was "Worth It" that really threw the ladies into another dimension. They have rightfully followed that up with an album that is more than a little reminiscent of that international hit.

First single, "Work From Home" took that influence and ran away with it. It is a brilliant tune and deserves all the attention it received. There was a lot of comparison between it and Rihanna's "Work", but for me there is no competition, "Work From Home" wins hand down. It really is the winning combination of pop and R&B and proves the ladies know how to deliver a killer single.

But does the rest of the album stack up against "Reflection"? Definitely, the girls are stronger and bolder and the end result feels polished and fresh. I would question whether the girls know their own sound yet? I like them as pop singers, but current pop tastes mean they need a more R&B sound, and that mostly works, but sometimes feels forces. Having said that, I still adore this album and will listen many times.

Promo singles "The Life" and "Write On Me" have been favourites of mine for weeks, with the latter one of the strongest songs on the album, it's a new sound for them and the girls deliver the song's message wonderfully.

New single, "All In My Head" with Fetty Wap is another R&B tinged corker with a strong and solid beat. "Gonna Get Better" is a brilliant song with a great sparse beat and a fab ending; there's something beautiful about the simplicity of the guitar and vocals on show here. "Not That Kind" with Missy Elliot has future single written all over it and "No Way" is a passionate tune where the girl's brilliant vocals are given a chance to shine.

While Fifth Harmony may not have settled on a sound yet, their new album is another example of the vocal power of these five stunning ladies. They will continue grow and shine and deliver fascinating pop music. Nice work Fifth Harmony!
