Album Review: Dangerous Woman - Ariana Grande

Good music elicits emotions, it can shape moods and make you feel euphoric. When you discover an album that you really love, it gives you sheer bliss to play it, Ariana Grande's third album, "Dangerous Woman", is one such album.

It's been a good year so far for pop albums, in January I declared Sia's new album as my favourite album of the year so far, then came All Saints with "Red Flag", and I had a new favourite. Well, step aside ladies, time for Ariana to steal the crown. "Dangerous Woman" is my favourite album of the year so far, and it will be very hard to top.

With every release Ariana gets stronger and stronger. I thought it would be hard to top album number two, "My Everything", but "Dangerous Woman" feels like a more complete effort. "My Everything" had great singles, but everything on the new album is amazing, with not one bad song in the bunch. Funnily enough the weakest song on the album is "Focus", which feels too mired in her previous work. 2016 Ariana is older, bolder and fabulous.

"Dangerous Woman" is a great tune, a grower. It's one of those infectious songs that sneaks up on you and suddenly you can't get it out of your head. It is the perfect demo of Ariana's crazy / brilliant voice, she truly does have the best voice in pop music right now.

Current single, "Into You" is quite simply pop perfection. This is Ariana's strongest single ever, my favourite Ariana song ever and no doubt a song that will be in my Top five or ten songs of 2016. Beautifully produced, the single is playful, sexy and brilliant. Love, love, love this song.

We were treated to a number of early promo releases and these songs are also exquisite. "Be Alright" was a favourite from the start, it has so many layers and the chorus is great. Always love a good click track and this one has many beautiful levels. "Let Me Love You", with Lil Wayne, is another great song. The pacey vocals in the verses are so great and the attitude of the whole song is fiercely brilliant.

We also got to hear "Side To Side" with Nicki Minaj a little earlier than the rest of the album and it is such a fun, albeit dirty little ditty. It's great to see the two together again and this reggae inspired number lets them both shine. As for the track with Macy Gray, "Leave Me Lonely", there is a beautiful subtlety to the track that gives it an almost torch quality. The pair sound great together, the perfect pairing of Gray's gravel and Grande's grace.

"Greedy" is another stand out. This corker was stuck in my head for most of last week. The drum and the vocals in the lead up to the chorus are amazing. "Sometimes" is catchy with its slow groove, "Touch It" is infectious with a sexy and strong beat. And "Moonlight" is beautiful intro, almost a lullaby playing from a music box. I really could describe every song, because I've fallen hard for every single track.

What an exceptional album from an exceptional talent, as I stated, it will be very hard for me to love an album more this year, Ariana's "Dangerous Woman" is the best album of 2016!
