Single of the Week: Fight Song - Rachel Platten

There's something pretty special about amazing singer / songwriters, they have a knack of writing and singing from the heart, and when they get it right it is brilliant. Rachel Platten's "Fight Song" is a perfect example of this - it is all kinds of stunning.

Rachel had a minor hit in the States in 2011, but it is with "Fight Song" she's finally gaining the reputation she deserves. "Fight Song" is on its way to being a big hit here in Australia and is just entering the US Billboard singles chart. She deserves a big hit with this song, so get buying peeps!

So why is it so good? Um, have you listened to it? Then you will see! It's a wondrous mid tempo pop song with a great anthemic quality. The instrumentation is stunning, the beautiful piano in the stripped back parts, and then the massive drums bring the infectious beat back.

The singing is beautiful, she has such rich tones in her voice. It would easy to compare her to Taylor Swift or even Kelly Clarkson, but I think she's pretty original. If the song reminds me of anything, it is the stunning "Different Worlds" by Jes Hudak & George Krikes, now that is an amazing song!

Lyrically I am also majorly in love with this song, "I might only have one match but I can make an explosion", poignant and beautiful. I've always been a sucker for a good empowerment song, one you can make as a personal motto - and this song is incredibly inspiring. Stuff for the heart and the head!
