Album Review: Nine - Samantha Jade

It's been quite the wait for a new album of Samantha Jade originals, but now, after winning Australian X-Factor in 2012, she finally has her album out; and it's as fun and fabulous as you would want it to be.

Samantha Jade has had a lot of singles released over the years, and all of them have been great, she definitely knows how to belt out a pop anthem. I've been waiting so long for an album, ready to enjoy the pop goodness, but it never came. It seemed a strange decision from her record label, something that seems common with a lot of Aussie pop acts, labels more focused on singles from Samantha, Nathaniel and Justice Crew. But fans love an album, so I am going to embrace this album like I did with Nathaniel's when it was released.

And what a great album it is. Slickly produced, this album is a showcase for the vocal talents of Ms Jade, a truly formidable talent. The album works best when the songs are full pop, with a great disco feel. You can certainly hear touches of Kylie in Jade's work, and that can't be a bad thing. This is a really strong album from a woman who deserves to be a very big international pop star.

First single. "Shake That", featuring Pitbull, is still a very fun song, a true pop anthem. It's a shame we didn't even get "Sweet Talk" as a bonus track, cause I LOVE that song! "Shake That" is the kind of feel good pop that makes your day brighter.

Other great songs on the album include, "Always", which would be the perfect second single. It's a catchy song with a chorus that is designed to get stuck in your head. The song has a great build and is a truly solid track. "Only Just Begun" is pure pop bliss. It's a feel good song with some great vocals and lyrics, "I can see in your afterglow, we've got something superhuman". The beat in the chorus is special indeed. And I know I said I loved the dance songs best, but how could I overlook the stunning ballad "Nine"? What a great showcase for Jade's voice. It's a sweet song with a nice build and is simple but beautiful.

Other standouts include, Kylie like, ""Born to be Alive", reminiscent of some of her earlier singles. "Show Me Love" has some great beats and keeps changing it up, a device that makes the song special indeed. Then there's "Wait For It", a solid pop song that shows Jade's great range.

We waited so long for this album, so I'm so happy that it's a sensational slice of pop. Get on it people!
