Singles: The Best of June 16

Apologises, I have been slack getting this to you. It's been my birthday, I have been working non-stop and house sitting. There, the excuses are done with, now we can get on with the great music. June had some really great releases, now time to celebrate them. Which of these songs did you love most? Tell us in the comments section below.

Good Grief - Bastille

Bastille are back! Now that sentence brings a massive smile to my face. Last year's next installment of "Other People's Heartache" was a fan favourite but wasn't meant for everyone. With "Good Grief" the lads are clearly hoping to regain the fans who loved "Pompeii", and what a great job they have done. This is infectious and probably more upbeat than anything they've produced in the past. The vocals are on point as usual and the beat is deep and infectious. I am very excited for their upcoming album. Here's hoping this song is a very big hit!

Even Though Our Love Is Doomed - Garbage

"Empty" may have been the first single from the new Garbage album, but it is promo single, "Even Though Our Love Is Doomed" that has really captured our attention. Moody and brilliant, this is such a great showcase for the melancholically beautiful vocals of Shirley Manson. Lyrically the song is on point, dark and poetic with lyrics like, "I need to understand why we kill the things we love the most". Even after all these years, Garbage are still a fascinating band with important things to say.

Under You - Nick Jonas

It was only a couple of weeks ago that we declared Nick Jonas' new album, "Last Year Was Complicated" as a great album. Well since then, new single, "Under You" has been getting under our skin. This is such a great pop song, with a really nice R&B influence. Jonas' voice has been getting better and better and sounds amazing here. Plus, he looks pretty damn hot in the clip. This song is such a grower, once it infiltrates your psyche, it will stay there. A really great single.

Hotter Than Hell - Dua Lipa

It was only two months ago when Dua Lipa made this list with her brilliant debut single, "Be the One", and now it's follow up, "Hotter Than Hell" has made the list as another favourite. Dua has such a rich and distinctive voice that is suited to this type of infectious pop. The beat is also rich, filled with loads of great instrumentation that makes you want to dance. Then the chorus hits and the song reaches another level of brilliance. I am really excited to hear what a Dua Lipa album will sound like!

Crash - Usher

Can you believe Usher is up to album eight? The man is a force to be reckoned with and he has lost none of his shine, in fact, he is sounding better than ever. "Crash" is sublimely beautiful, almost a heartbreaking sequel to his brilliant, "Climax". Usher's voice is ridiculous, it is so very good, and paired with this electronic and moody ballad it is magical. The lyrics break my heart, and I guess that is the point. "Would you mind if I hold onto you so I don't crash", sigh, Usher, you read my heart once again.

In My Blood - The Veronicas

Confession time, I always forget just how much I love The Veronicas until they release something new and then they captivate me all over again. In the past few weeks I've gone back to rediscover "Untouched", "You Ruin Me" and even "Lolita", all because of the brilliance of "In My Blood". As always, the vocals are completely on point and the mid tempo pop song has a great beat. Then can we talk about the awesome film clip? The Veronicas are easily the best duo Australia has ever produced, long may they reign.
