Telepathy (featuring Nile Rodgers) - Christina Aguilera
Now I see this song came out in late August, well I didn't hear it until this past month, so it goes on the list! And what a stunning song it is, and a great return for one of the world's best vocalists - and she really is. Her vocals are sublime here, and match that with some lyrical genius from Sia and funky production from Nile Rodgers and you have a modern day disco classic. This is definitely one to get you up dancing this upcoming festive season.
Trust Nobody (featuring Selena Gomez) - Cashmere Cat
Cashmere Cat first came to my attention from his work with Ariana Grande, and he continues to pump out amazing music with the young divas, this time it is Selena Gomez's turn. The opening beat is exquisite and Selena's vocals sound fresh and sexy. The production here is flawless, with so much nuance packed into one pop song. There's an ease to this song that makes it totally infectious. Cashmere Cat is certainly a producer to watch out for, and it's always great to see Selena releasing some new music.
This Town - Niall Horan
Niall always seemed like the sensitive soul of One Direction and I guess this tune proves that is true. "This Town" is a beautiful acoustic folk like song that really is a grand showcase for Niall's voice. While he may not have the vocal strength of Zayn, he has a sweet tone that is wonderful. Lyrically the song is great and the guitar is simple and effective. It's a smart move for Niall to move into the Ed Sheeran territory and make his own mark. I really am looking forward to hearing more of what he has to offer.
Fighting For Love - Dami Im
It is pretty obvious to most people now that Dami Im can sing. She is a stunning vocalist who has such rich tones and can really hit those big notes. I love that she seems to adore pop and isn't just going for old school Mariah big ballads. "Fighting For Love" is a catchy slice of pop with a big chorus, heavy beats and luscious vocals. She really is one of the best pop divas Australia has right now and for that she should be seen as the national treasure that she is. And plus, she seems so damn nice. Couldn't you just see yourself being good friends with her?
Shoutout To My Ex - Little Mix
"Shoutout To My Ex" really is the biggest pop single release of October, and hands down my favourite song of the month. Little Mix's last album, "Get Weird" was super strong, and "Shoutout To My Ex" shows they are not ready to lose their pop crowns just yet. What could just be seen as a diss track to Zayn, really is a song we can all relate to. We all have those exes who broke our heart and now we want to get even. The chorus is fantastic, so fantastic I have woken up several times with it stuck in my head. Great tune from four stunning vocalists.
On Your Side - The Veronicas
It was always going to be hard following up a massive Australian number one. "In My Blood" is a brilliant song and shot The Veronicas back on top, so it's pretty great that the new single, "On Your Side" is also bloody good! A little more stripped back, this gives the girls a chance to show off their great vocals. And wow do they harmonise well together. We often speak our love for The Veronicas on "Internal Jukebox" and we will continue to do so, cause they are the best pop duo Australia has!
