Single of the Week: Style - Taylor Swift

"Style" was one of my favourite tracks when I first heard Taylor Swift's "1989" album, but it has been in this last week that the song went from like to absolute love! A switch somehow flipped in my brain and I just haven't been able to get it out of my head and it has certainly been on repeat all week.

There's something incredibly exciting about the direction of Taylor Swift's career. Beginning in country, ever since the massive crossover success of "Love Story", Swift has been heading towards a more pop sound and with her "1989" album the transformation is complete. It's her work with Grammy Producer of the Year Max Martin that is particularly exciting. The pair have co-written this song and it's easy to see their amazing chemistry here. Martin crafts a brilliant pop beat and Swift is a poet with lyrics.

Lyrically Swift is on point again, evoking images of old Hollywood glamour. She is a natural storyteller and writes lyrics people can't help but sing along with. Encompassing elements of pop, rock and a little funk, this mid tempo song is deservedly hitting top ten across the world. And what a truly beautiful film clip, Ms Swift really does have style.

In the music industry it's very easy for people to be big one moment but gone the next, but the evolution of Taylor Swift is not complete - I truly believe she will be around for a long time and I for one am very excited about it!
