The 5 Best Christmas Songs of 2016

Merry Christmas, didn't it feel like we were just saying this? Oh yeah, that was last year! Well here we are again. We're all buying presents, getting drunk at Christmas parties and hopefully listening to awesome Christmas tracks. I love to listen to my old Christmas tunes, but then love all the new tracks every year. Over the past few years we have loved presenting the best Christmas songs of the year, and here we go again - this year's Top 5 Christmas tunes!

5 - All I Want For Christmas - Karmin

Karmin are awesome! Their songs, "Brokenhearted" and "Acapella" are two of my favourites so it's nice to hear this fresh take on the Mariah classic. Yes, this song is covered a lot, I think every year we've done this list there's a new cover of it - but Karmin have brought a freshness to it. Some added synths and some great vocals from Amy. She brings her quirky voice to the song and it's brilliant. A great update of a classic.

4 - If Everyday Was Christmas - Cruz Beckham

Yes, it's THAT Beckham. Cruz is the son of David and Victoria Beckham. When your Mum was a Spice Girl I get that you want to release a pop song. Cruz is only 11 and has just released this great charity Christmas song. Sure he sounds young, but his voice is sweet and the production is flawless. It's a sweet song and is really infectious, after a few listens I found myself happily singing along. Welcome Cruz, I look forward to hearing some more great music.

3 - When Christmas Comes Around - Matt Terry

Matt Terry was the latest winner of the UK X-Factor and the lucky lad got to release an Ed Sheeran written Christmas tune as his first song. And it's reason to celebrate, only the second time a winner has got to release an original song. And what a beautiful song. You can hear the Sheeran influence, but Terry has a beautiful voice and he sounds so endearing as he sings the song. This is a great song and a good first single - he certainly does have a lot of potential.

2 - Wonderful Christmastime - Kylie Minogue & Mika

Kylie is back again, with another re-release of her fantastic Christmas album. There's some good covers on the new tracks and what a treat it is to hear her and Mika take on this Paul McCartney classic. Kylie sounds so beautifully festive and Mika's voice is strong as ever. This song has a great chorus that is very catchy and just so much fun. This is certainly a song to help with your Christmas cheer.

1 - Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - Nathan Sykes

Nathan Sykes has had a great year. His debut solo album was wonderful and he released one of my favourite songs of the year, "Give It Up". Well he's cemented his great year with this brilliant cover of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas". It is quite simply beautiful. The piano is fantastic and his voice is just so strong. It is an emotive cover and he shows just how talented he is. A deserved winner of the best Christmas song of 2016.

BONUS - Best Christmas Album - Christmas Party - She & Him

Now if you want some camp fun for Christmas, look no further than She & Him's "Christmas Party" album. Zooey Deschanel is so quirky it hurts and here it works beautifully. There's some great covers, including "All I Want For Christmas is You" and "Winter Wonderland". Plus, "Let It Snow" is just captivating. You definitely need this album in your Christmas collection.

Merry Christmas from everyone here at Internal Jukebox!!!!
