Album Review: The Original High - Adam Lambert

Sorry for the delay with this album review, been a big few weeks. But sometimes the wait is worth it - cause this is a brilliant pop album from one of the world's greatest pop stars. I mean that voice, Adam Lambert is a legend, and his third album is a winner!

Sometimes a number one US album gets you dropped from your label, unbelievably. That happened to Glambert, but instead of letting it get to him, he just found a new label and had the best type of revenge, success!

Without a doubt, "The Original High" is Lambert's strongest album to date, debut "For Your Entertainment" had great singles but the whole album was inconsistent. "The Original High" doesn't put a foot wrong, under the watchful eye of amazing producer, Max Martin, Lambert is able to shine.

The album is filled with great deep house beats and EDM, all placed under Lambert's brilliant and distinctive voice. His voice seems to be only getting stronger, and he sounds amazing here. It's less pop than his last release, and has a certain level of sophistication that is refreshing. Lyrically the album is spot on and with Lambert having his hands on writing most of the songs, you have to be impressed. With, "The Original High", we see the evolution of a true album continuing.

As for standouts, there are a few. Lead single, "Ghost Town" is a winner. With it's mix of pop, EDM and amazing vocals, it's a perfect start to the record. "Another Lonely Night" is a fantastic ballad with a beat. There's so much anguish in his voice, it's the perfect break up song (and I know about that right now). "Underground" is also brilliant. It's easy to lose yourself in the great music, there's such a beautiful ease to this track - I seriously am in love with this song.

Other great tracks include the duet with Tove Lo, "Rumours", "There I Said It" has some great lyrics, "Evil in the Night" is a funky little tune and "These Boys" is the best of the bonus songs.

There may be a lot of pop music out there at the moment, but don't overlook the new Adam Lambert album - it's pretty damn superb!
