What a massive week for Delta Goodrem, not only did she gain her ninth number one single on the Australian charts, her first in eight years, she also just was crowned as our single of the week!! ;)
And what a well deserved number one single. There has so much undeserved flack circulating for Delta. Quite simply she is one of Australia's best pop stars, she proves this by having her ninth number one. Long may her reign continue!
So let's talk about "Wings", what a stunning pop track. Delta's voice sounds as strong as ever, showcasing her amazing range - the woman has serious vocals chops. The production is flawless and the beat makes me want to dance along. The strings sound exquisite and there's an amazing level of euphoria throughout this track.
There's some great lyrics in this pop gem as well, it is such a song of hope. As the music dies down and Delta belts, "What if I lose my self control?", you just want to join her infectious abandon (wow, infectious abandon sounds the name of a punk band).
This is the best song that Delta has produced in years, so it is fitting she is rewarded with such a massive hit. This makes me very excited for an upcoming album release. Nice work Ms Goodrem!
