Single of the Week: I Really Like You - Carly Rae Jepsen

For those expecting Carly Rae Jepsen to just be a one hit wonder, be prepared to be greatly disappointed. "Call Me Maybe" was one of those true cultural phenomenons, a song that just ticked all the right boxes and was everywhere. She did have a second number one here in Australia, her duet with Owl City, "Good Time", but many don't count that. But now be prepared for the new track, "I Really Like You", to explode.

First things first, this is catchy as hell, maybe even more catchy than "Call me Maybe". That chorus will just get stuck in your head, and you'll be singing "Really, really, really like you" for ages. Jepsen falls squarely into the pop category, unabashed pop music with an 80's edge. Great to dance to, sing with and just lose yourself in. It's admirable to see Jepsen as a co-writer on the track as well.

Then there's that great film clip. I don't know how they got Tom Hanks, but they did, and it's all kinds of awesome. It's almost surreal seeing Hanks, Jepsen and Justin Bieber dancing together at the end. It's strangely bizarre and completely superfluous, but who cares, cause it's so very fun. I could watch this over and over.

It's great to see Jepsen back with a mega pop song, clearly she's a girl with talent and deserves all the kudos she's received. I'll be playing this one loud and often for the next few weeks. Can't wait for the next album!
